Woman Arrested for Stabbing Friend; Police Officer Saves Victim with Tourniquet

Selden – 369 Magnolia Drive / Monday, February 15, 2016 at approximately 3 a.m.

Suffolk County Police today arrested a Selden woman for stabbing her friend during a dispute early this morning.

Sixth Precinct officers responded to 369 Magnolia Drive in Selden at approximately 3 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a woman had been stabbed during a dispute between friends. When officers arrived, they found a 23-year-old Manorville woman had been stabbed in her right arm and was suffering from excessive blood loss.

Officer Kevin Butler, who is a member of the department’s Medical Crisis Action Team (MedCAT), applied a combat application tourniquet to the woman’s arm to control the bleeding. Officer Butler stabilized the victim who was then transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was admitted after emergency surgery.
