The remains discovered in a Lake Grove home on October 31 have been identified as George Carroll. Carroll’s death is being investigated as a homicide.

75 Olive St., Lake Grove on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at approximately 2 p.m.
Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating human remains discovered in a home in Lake Grove today.
Michael Carroll 57, and his two adult sons were excavating Michael’s basement at 75 Olive St. when the sons discovered what appeared to be human remains at approximately 2 p.m. The family called 911 and Homicide detectives investigated.
Investigation revealed Michael’s parents George and Dorothy Carroll owned the home in 1957. Michael and his three siblings lived in the house with their parents. George has been missing since 1961, and Dorothy died in the late 90s. Michael is the current homeowner.
The remains were taken to the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner to be examined by an anthropologist.
