On Tuesday, June 15th, 2021, Suffolk County Police arrested a Brentwood man when a routine traffic stop turned into a startling discovery.
First Precinct Officers Thomas Monaco and Ugur Kahveci initiated a traffic stop on Broadway at Sunrise Highway at 11:28 a.m. after the driver of a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant failed to signal a turn.
Upon further investigation, it was determined the driver, Gilbert Cantres, had 99 suspensions on his driver license. No, that's not a typo... 99 suspensions!
Cantres, 55, was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree and will appear in court at a later date.
(A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.)
