One Man Killed, One Injured in Shooting

Suffolk County Police today arrested Stephen McCoy for killing James Skinner in North Bellport in June. Homicide Squad detectives arrested McCoy in Bellport at approximately 6 p.m. McCoy, 27, of Pace Street, Bellport, was charged with Murder 2nd Degree and will be held overnight at the Fifth Precinct. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on August 30.

Suffolk County Police today arrested a North Bellport man for murdering a Queens man earlier this month. Homicide Squad detectives charged Timothy White, 22, of 685 Bellport Ave., with Murder 2nd Degree for the shooting death of James Skinner that occurred on June 17 in North Bellport. White will be held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and arraigned on June 27 at First District Court in Central Islip.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

In front of 730 Doane Ave, North Bellport on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at 11:25 p.m.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that killed one man and injured another in North Bellport last night.

Fifth Precinct officers responded to 730 Doane Ave. after a 911 caller reported a fight between guests at a party and a group of uninvited people. When police arrived, they found two men, who were guests at the party, with gunshot wounds outside of the home. The men were transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where one man, James Skinner, 50, of Queens, was pronounced dead. The other man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
