Nurse Arrested for Taking Photos of Emergency Room Patient

Suffolk County Police have arrested a nurse after he photographed a patient in an emergency room in West Islip.

An employee at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center observed Nicholas Petrella, a nurse, take photographs of the intimate parts of a 17-year-old female emergency room patient on May 20. The employee reported the incident to a supervisor who reported the incident to police.

Following an investigation, Third Squad detectives arrested Petrella, 35, of 45 Whalen St., North Babylon, on May 26 and charged him with Unlawful Surveillance 2nd Degree.

Petrella is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on May 27. The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about Petrella is asked to call Third Squad detectives at 631-854-8352.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
