FARMINGVILLE – Parking Lot of 1075 Portion Road / Saturday, December 27, 2014 at approximately 1:40 a.m.
Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating an incident during which a Patchogue man was killed after he fell off of a moving vehicle in Farmingville early this morning.
Rafael Acosta-Lemus was riding on the trunk of a friend’s moving Volkswagen four-door sedan, in the parking lot of 1075 Portion Road, when he apparently slipped off the trunk and fell onto the pavement, striking his head. The vehicle, operated by a Brentwood man, 20, was being driven slowly for a short distance to a different vehicle parked within the lot. Acosta-Lemus, 21, of 44 Stahlman Lane, Patchogue, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital by Farmingville Fire Department Rescue where he was pronounced dead. No one else was injured.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety inspection. The investigation is continuing. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident and have not yet been interviewed by detectives is asked to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
