Man Arrested for Leaving Children Home Alone in North Amityville

NORTH AMITYVILLE – 34 E. Somerset Road / Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 2:13 a.m.

Suffolk County Police today arrested a man for leaving six children unattended with no adult supervision.

First Precinct Patrol officers responded to a residence on E. Somerset Road for a domestic incident and discovered six children unattended, an 8-year-old female, an 8-year-old male, a 6-year-old male and two 5-year-old males at 2:13 a.m.

Boyd Carrington

Boyd Carrington, 43, returned to his home a short time later and was arrested and charged with six counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Carrington is the father of three of the children and the uncle of the other three children. Carrington was also charged with Assault 3rd Degree for the domestic incident.

The children were released to a family member.

Carrington is being held at the First Precinct and will be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
