Man Arrested for DWI after Driving Wrong Way on the Long Island Expressway

BRENTWOOD – Westbound Long Island Expressway at Exit 53 / Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at approximately 1:35 a.m.

Suffolk County Police arrested a Jericho man for driving while intoxicated after he drove the wrong way on the Long Island Expressway early this morning.

Highway Patrol Officer Robert Scudellari was traveling eastbound on the LIE near Exit 53 when he observed a 2015 Maserati traveling westbound in the eastbound HOV lane at approximately 1:35 a.m.

The driver, Stuart Zeiff, 64, of Hunt Drive, was pulled over by Officer Scudelarri, and it was determined that Zeiff was intoxicated. He was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and was also issued multiple traffic tickets for vehicle and traffic law violations.

Zeiff is being held at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip today.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
