Man Arrested for Burglarizing Two Businesses in One Night

MASTIC BEACH – Commack Road / Sunday, May 15, 2016

Suffolk County Police today arrested a Mastic Beach man for burglarizing two businesses in one night.

Seventh Precinct Police Officer Mark Peddycoart responded to American Car Care, located at 5 Commack Road in Mastic Beach, in response to an automatic alarm at approximately 3:55 a.m. Upon arrival, Officer Peddycoart observed a broken window and then located John Nuzzi nearby and arrested him.

During the investigation, Canine Section Police Officer Michael Cassidy and his Canine partner Thor indicated a track from American Car Care to a wooded area near the property of Ultimate Mower and Tools. Subsequently, a bicycle and a pair of bolt cutters belonging to Nuzzi were located by Thor. It was determined Nuzzi also burglarized Ultimate Mower and Tools earlier that morning.


Nuzzi will be held overnight at the Seventh Precinct for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on May 16.


A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
